KYNSHOT - Hydraulic Buffer for AR-15 with collapsible stock (3.25") - Light Model
This model is made lighter, a requires less force to cycle it than the standard AR-15 carbine KynSHOT Buffer. This is intended for soft cycling or under gassed guns that won't lock back on the last round with the standard carbine Hydraulic buffer or heavier buffers. For those shooters who want the benefits and smoothness of a hydraulic buffer but who have a gun that tends to cycle without as much force as your average AR-15. This buffer was developed specifically to meet the needs of .300 Blackout guns which tend to run on the softer side as compared to .223/5.56 guns. Also works for any .223/5.56 AR-15 carbine that runs on the softer side and may short stroke with the standard carbine model.
Reduce felt recoil, improve reliability, reduce bolt carrier speed, reduce wear on parts, reduce shock and vibration to optics, and suppress bolt bounce with this simple drop-in replacement. Designed for AR-15 rifles with a collapsible stock. This buffer has a piston that is hydraulically dampened to absorb the shock of impact from the bolt carrier's rearward motion and to prevent bolt bounce as a new cartridge is chambered. You will feel less recoil and smoother operation with this buffer and you will see less movement of your sights during recoil for faster shot to shot recovery time.
This buffer is made to the highest possible quality and durability standards. Can take all the punishment your rifle can dish out. Constructed using 17-4 Stainless Steel and is built to outlast your gun. The hydraulic seal and porting technology used in this buffer has been thoroughly proven which is why the warranty on this buffer is as impressive as it is. Designed for .300 BLK or any softer cycling AR-15. This could apply to a .223/5.56 gun with a gas system that just doesn't eject very hard which happens a small percentage of the time, or a .300 Blackout shooting subsonic loads which normally run very soft. .300 BLK guns running exclusively supersonic ammo may be fine with a standard hydraulic buffer model as long the bolt cycles firmly and ejects cases with authority.
For subsonic only .300 BLK guns a Sprinco reduced power (yellow spring) is recommended. For supersonic .300 BLK and .223/5.56 guns a Sprinco white or blue spring or a JP carbine buffer spring works very well.

What is the best buffer and spring set up for my AR15 .223/5.56 carbine with a 16” barrel?
Use the Kynshot RB5000 standard carbine hydraulic buffer and a slightly extra power buffer spring such as the JP .223 carbine spring or the Sprinco Enhanced Power Carbine Spring – Color Code Blue.
What is the best buffer and spring set up for my AR10 in .308/7.62 or 6.5 Creedmoor?
If it has a collapsible stock and 16” barrel or longer, use the Kynshot 2.5” AR10 buffer or the Kynshot 3.25” AR10 buffer, depending on the buffer tube length. Use an AR10 carbine buffer spring such as the JP .308 carbine spring or the Sprinco AR10 carbine Spring – Color Code Orange.
If it has a fixed stock with a full-length buffer tube and 16” barrel or longer, use the Kynshot AR10 rifle buffer and an AR10 rifle buffer spring such as the JP .308 rifle spring.
What is the best buffer and spring set up for my 450 Bushmaster?
Use the RB5000 AR15 carbine buffer and a Sprinco Red extra power AR15 carbine buffer spring for a typical set up with a 16” barrel and carbine buffer tube. Use the RB5001 AR15 rifle buffer and an AR15/.223 rifle buffer spring for a full-length, fixed stock buffer tube.
What is the best buffer and spring set up for my 458 SOCOM?
Use an RB5000HP buffer and a Sprinco Red extra power AR15 carbine buffer spring for a typical set up with a 16” barrel and carbine buffer tube. Use the RB5001 AR15 rifle buffer and an AR15/.223 rifle buffer spring for a full-length, fixed stock buffer tube.
What is the best buffer and spring set up for my AR15 .223/5.56 SBR?
Use an RB5000HP buffer and a Sprinco Red extra power AR15 carbine buffer spring. SBRs are somewhat hard to predict. Most run harder than a typical AR15 carbine, but occasionally one will run softer. So, you usually need this heavier buffer set up with a short barreled .223/5.56 guns, but to be sure you would need to run it and see how it cycles and ejects.
What is the best buffer and spring set up for my AR15 .300 BLK?
.300 Blackout (BLK) has a number of unique things to be aware of when making your buffer and spring selection. This cartridge has faster-burning powder than typical rifle cartridges since it was made to work well in short barreled rifles (SBRs). So, the gas pressure in the barrel drops off much faster than with a .223 or other AR cartridges. This is why .300 BLK guns require shorter gas tubes for the same length barrel. They have to have the gas port where the gas pressure will still be high enough to run the bolt. But even with the shorter gas systems, the gas pressure is usually on the low side with .300 BLK guns. So they don’t run the bolt as hard as other AR15s. In addition to this, there are two very different types of loads for the .300 BLK – Supersonic and Subsonic. These two loadings are like two different cartridges making buffer selection more challenging. Subsonic loads have energy similar to a handgun, while supersonic loads have more energy than a 5.56, even though the gas pressure still drops off faster. Supersonic .300 BLK loads run a bit softer than a typical 5.56 of the same barrel length. Subsonic loads run much softer and sometimes won’t function reliably without a 3 oz conventional buffer and a reduced power buffer spring. If the subsonic loads are run with a suppressor, then that helps a bit with the gas pressure. For these reasons and taking it all into consideration, we recommend staying on the light side with your buffer and spring selection and go with a set up that should run well and feel great with most loadings. We recommend the RB5000L (light) buffer model with the Sprinco Yellow Reduced Power Buffer Spring. This gives you the best chance of it running well with both types of loads. However, be aware that there are some .300 BLK guns that will only run subsonic loads with a 3 oz conventional buffer. Every gun is somewhat unique, and there are a lot of variables. Longer barrels, suppressors (and even some compensators) and ammo selection can help a lot to ensure sufficient gas pressure for reliable function.
What is a hydraulic buffer in an AR-15?
A hydraulic buffer in an AR-15 is a specialized component designed to replace the traditional buffer in the firearm's recoil system. The primary purpose of a hydraulic buffer is to improve the overall shooting experience by reducing felt recoil, minimizing bolt carrier movement, and dampening vibrations.
The hydraulic buffer functions using a piston filled with hydraulic fluid, which compresses as the bolt carrier moves rearward during the cycling of the firearm. This hydraulic compression absorbs the energy generated by the recoiling action, reducing the force felt by the shooter and allowing for faster follow-up shots.
