Blitzkrieg Components / CTS 9mm AR-15 AKTIVE Buffer

Blitzkrieg Components worked with CTS Engineering to develop a 9mm AR-15 buffer using CTS's Patent Pending AKTIVE Buffer Technology. The AKTIVE Buffer design uses a solid Stainless Steel buffer body and a 2-stage buffering action to cushion the impact of the Bolt/Bolt Carrier. The buffer has a hard polymer piston head at the front that encloses a captured elastomer shock absorber and has a vastly improved rear bumper. The 2-stage action consists of the piston head compressing the internal elastomer shock absorber, followed by the compression of the rear bumper, creating a much softer impact at the rear of the buffer tube. The impact of the bolt on the barrel as it goes forward into battery is also reduced. The hard polymer piston head has been redesigned to support the unique 9mm AR-15 application. It accommodates the solid rear profile of 9mm AR-15 bolts and provides optimal buffer alignment within the buffer tube. Furthermore, it runs very quiet. The rear bumper is not only more substantial than a convention bumper, but it is secured to the stainless buffer body with a bolt instead of a flimsy roll pin and provides far greater shock absorption.

The blowback operation of the 9mm AR-15 uses a much heavier bolt than a standard AR-15 BCG and it gets the full force of the cartridge causing it to run very hard on carbine length barrels. It needs to be dampened as much as possible to optimize the system, reduce wear on the firearm and reduce recoil and sight movement. The design of this buffer is simple, yet very effective and will feel softer and run quieter than a conventional or solid buffer. Spring noise is also greatly reduced using this buffer. Much of the spring noise on 9mm AR15s comes from the hard running bolt with an abrupt stop. This buffer dampens the impact for a soft landing which greatly reduces this vibration and noise. The length of this buffer stops the bolt just behind the bolt catch on a 9mm AR-15 without the need for a spacer.

Buffer Spring selection is also very important to optimal performance and minimal recoil and sight movement. We recommend running a pistol caliber AR with the strongest buffer spring that runs reliably and cycles fully in your weapon. This sometimes requires a bit of trial and error on the part of the shooter since every build is unique and even guns with the same build specs can run differently and require a different spring.

Spring Selection Guidance:
*The following is provided as general guidance as a starting point in spring selection
SPRINCO Orange 308 Carbine - 10-16" barrel unsuppressed, 8-16" suppressed
SPRINCO Red 223 Extra Power - 6-10" barrel unsuppressed, 5-10" suppressed
SPRINCO Blue 223 Enhanced Power - 3.5-6" barrel unsuppressed or suppressed
SPRINCO White 223 Standard Power - 3.5-6" barrel on softer running guns
SPRINCO Yellow 223 Reduced Power - 3.5-6" barrel on very soft running guns unsuppressed
JP 308 Carbine Ground & Polished Spring - same as Sprinco Orange (quietest spring)
JP 223 Carbine Ground & Polished Spring - same as Sprinco Blue (quietest spring)

These buffers are fantastic!  That sums it up.  Bought 2 and came back and bought 2 more.
